The Stanbridge station was built by the Central Vermont Railway. This railway went through numerous rounds of ownership that included the Grand Trunk Railway, Canadian Pacific Railway, the Montreal Maine & Atlantic Railway and until recently the Central Maine & Québec Railway. The CMQ was acquired by the Canadian Pacific Railway in June 2020.
