In 1902 Wanstead was the site of one of the most horrific train crashes in Canadian History. Thirty-one people lost their lives in a head-on collision between a freight and passenger train. Macleans Magazine A second station, built in the 1920s, was owned and used by the Wanstead Farmer's Co-operative for a number of years. As of the summer of 2017, it was no longer standing.
