Barrie's first station was built in 1865 by the Northern Railway of Canada. It was a temporary station that didn't last long. In 1871, it was replaced with an attractive brick structure. The station was later modified by the Grand Trunk in 1910 and then again by CN in 1928. It stood until 1963 when it was demolished ostensibly for property development. The development never took place and the site of the former station is now home to a parking lot.
